The mafia world fascinates me because it thrives on contradiction: devotion wrapped in brutality, tenderness existing beside bloodshed, love expressed through control. Those themes sit at the heart of this story, informing every choice, every threat, and every moment of quiet intimacy that feels just as dangerous as a gun on the table.

Each of my main characters is written with care, obsession, and deep affection. I do not believe in purely good or purely evil people only in humans shaped by hunger, fear, longing, and circumstance. Through them, I want to push at the boundary between love and liability, permission and perversion, overindulgence and oppression. I want to explore what happens when affection becomes dangerous, when devotion turns into a cage, and when wanting someone feels like both a sin and a salvation.

Leo and Ivan are born from that exact tension.

Leo, in particular, was inspired by classic crime thrillers and undercover narratives—especially Johnny Depp’s portrayal in “Donnie Brasco”. I was drawn to the quiet unraveling of a man who enters darkness pretending to be someone else, only to discover that the mask is becoming his face. Leo is a character defined by restraint and fracture: a man who wants to be good, who clings to morality even as desire erodes it. His vulnerability, his confusion, and his growing emotional dependency are intentional. Leo is not weak—he is human, and that humanity is precisely what makes him so vulnerable to the world Ivan represents.

Ivan, on the other hand, is power given flesh. My inspiration for him comes from my long-standing fascination with Russian history—particularly the monarchs and czars whose authority was absolute, whose presence inspired both awe and terror. Ivan is shaped like a ruler from another era: cold, disciplined, deeply strategic, and accustomed to obedience. Like the great czars, he is not loud in his dominance; it is implied, inevitable, woven into the air around him. He rules not through chaos, but through control—through the quiet certainty that resistance is futile and devotion will be rewarded. His love is not gentle, but it is deliberate, consuming, and unwavering.
